Skyeship Base Station

RCWA helped Killington Resort site their new 2.5 mile long Skyeship gondola.  This is another example of unique master planning for our clients. The location of the lift base station was raised +/- 10 feet to a large area protected from automobile traffic to fit the location chosen.  An elegant arched bridge was designed; providing pedestrians a safe crossing from the parking lot to the base lodge area.  The foot bridge needed to be heated, but the real challenge was designing it in such a way as that it diverted any water to the ends of the bridge so no water dropped onto the road or formed icicles. 

This project also called for lift facility, a protected area for skiers to line up for the heated gondola ride and the old terminal to design a restaurant, ski rental & retail shop, and a skier service center.
